Disability Concerns Presbytery of the Twin Cities
The goal of the Disability Concerns Mission Team to promote inclusion of people who live with disabilities in the life of congregations and in the Presbytery.

All Christians are members of the Body of Christ and deserve access to the worship, fellowship, and leadership opportunities in the church. When barriers of any kind exist and make it impossible for persons with disabilities to participate fully in the life of the church, we are not being faithful to our calling or to the mission of the church.

It is not enough to enable people with disabilities to enter the buildings. The Body of Christ is not whole when we are not able to embrace the gifts of all members. Like all Christians, persons with disabilities have been given gifts to use in the service of God. In addition, persons with disabilities may have gifts of patience, creativity, and perseverance they have learned by living with disabilities.

Peace and Justice Mission Team
“And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace for those who make peace.” – James 3:18

Organization and Goals

The Justice and Peace Mission Team has been established by the Presbytery of the Twin Cities Area to provide leadership development, resources and other support to congregations according to their purpose. To that end, we:
  • Encourage and support local Presbyterian congregations and members of the Presbytery, as well as building collaborations with ecumenical partners to be advocates for social justice and peacemaking;
  • Manage the missional uses of the Presbytery’s portion of the Peacemaking offering with thoughtful stewardship;
  • Raise awareness within the Presbytery of issues and concerns regarding justice and peace through communication, conferences, workshops, etc.

Justice and peace is God’s intention for the world. Through Jesus Christ we are reconciled to God and called to deal justly with each other and with all creation. We are called as active members of the PCUSA to responsible involvement in the ministry of the church through: “working in the world for peace, justice, freedom, and human fulfillment.” Book of Order G-1.0304.

Cooperation with Advocacy Groups

In addition to our work in PTCA, mission team members work with other PCUSA advocacy agencies and mission ministries, local seminaries, church, and community groups. These include but are not limited to:
