Mission and Witness Grants

The Mission and Witness Committee of the Presbytery of the Twin Cities Area is pleased to announce the availability of the 2013 Mission and Witness Grants. The grant funding throught the Mission and Witness Committee and and its Task Forces (including Peace & Justice, Disabilities, Education and Leadership Development) makes its funds available to congregations and individual members of the PTCA. The purpose of the grant is to initiate new projects or establish ongoing ministries of justice and care, which demonstrate the good news of Christ’s Grace on behalf of our neighborhoods in need in the greater Twin Cities area. The grant can serve as a witness of our great love to our neighbor, and to serve as an inspiration and encouragement to action for other congregations and groups within the PTCA.

Conference and Workshop Scholarships

Members of PTCA can also submit requests for scholarships to attend conferences and workshops in the areas of Mission, Education, Peace and Justice, Leadership Development and Disabilities Ministries, throughout 2012. PURPOSE

The 2012 Mission Witness Grant funding through the Mission and Witness committee and its Task Forces (including Peace & Justice, Disabilities, Education and Leadership Development) makes its funds available to congregations and individual members of the PTCA. The purpose of the grant is to initiate new projects or establish ongoing ministries of justice and care, which demonstrate the good news of Christ’s Grace on behalf of our neighborhoods in need in the PTCA Region. The purpose of this grant is twofold: to serve as a witness of our great love to our neighbor, and to serve as an inspiration and encouragement to action for other congregations and groups within the PTCA. PLEASE NOTE: this is the only application required for all grants of the PTCA.

APPLICATION CRITERIA

Applications should reflect:

  1. Active congregational participation in the project and financial support from the sponsoring congregation.
  2. An exhibition of energy, intelligence, imagination and love in serving in Christ’s manner to and with the poor and oppressed.
  3. An intentional tie-in to a specific congregation or Presbytery event within a year.
  4. A commitment to produce a follow-up written report with a digital picture attached, or a flip mini video in order to increase communication and understanding within the presbytery.
  5. We suggest that all grant requests be sent in online.
  6. Grants are awarded to support the work of PTCA congregations and ministries. The grants do not directly support non-profit entities.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  1. Applications will be received between December 1, 2011 and April 1, 2012. Notification will be sent within a month. Grants should be approved by May 1, 2012 and the monies distributed by June 1, 2012.
  2. Normally, grants will be in the range of $500-$1500.
  3. Normally, projects will not be funded for more than three years. Re-application is required each year.
  4. Documentation submitted shall have Session approval with moderator’s and clerk’s contact information.

  6. IF YOUR APPLICATION IS APPROVED, a brief report and evaluation in writing is to be sent to the Mission and Witness Committee within a year of the grant.
